Change windows 7 boot screen resolution

I believe I have some information that could help you understand this behavior in the computer. A computer usually has a graphics card that controls the attributes like Screen Resolution. But, when the computer is booting up, the graphics card is not active. During the boot phase, it is usually the BIOS that controls the display and this display is usually much smaller than what your Screen Resolution is set to.

This is pretty normal and it is basically because BIOS is a basic routine that does not have to worry much about a high resolution display. When you are at the screen that you have referred to, the video is still controlled by the BIOS. The behavior you have described in the computer is because your BIOS does not support a display equivalent to the resolution that your graphics card does. This is why the screen you are referring to appears to be compact.

So, you do not have to worry about this and it is not a fault in your monitors. It is just that the BIOS in your computer does not support a higher resolution than what you see in that screen while booting.

I believe this helps you understand the behavior. My monitor has resolution x but when booting, screen looks compacted. I have newest video drivers which are compatible with Windows 8. I have the same question Report abuse. Details required :. One last shot would be to hit F8 during bootup to bring up the Advanced Boot Up options screen and then select Enable Low Resolution Video x but i'll admit in not being sure if thats all of windows or just the boot up.

I have never seen a monitor that only accepts one resolution and nothing else The next setup is to update your monitor, at that resolution I can safely assume its over 15 years old so its not a windows issue. No, it didn't work for my application. The CRT is not capable of anything else.

Not only that, it doesn't report to windows its capabilities so I get no auto adjustment if things go awry. I'm considering never shutting down and only sleeping the computer to avoid this issue.
