Comtrend powerline hd ethernet manual
Hi Guys Just installed a pair of Comtrend's PowerGrid ethernet adaptors and although they appear to be up and running fine I wonder if someone could clarify the following, the green ethernet light on adaptor B is contantly flickering? I presume as it's working this is ok? Here is the manual. Last edited: Jan 3, Thanks, but already had these.
Geezer Active Member. Cheers Geezer Figured that was the case All works a treat in getting my Hummy box iPlayer enabled Really good devices btw if anyone is thinking of getting a powerline kit. For a start it is much easier, in my opinion, to add a third or more HomePlugs to an existing pair. Would you like to enlighten me then or just leave it as "Nope" What is the difference please? I'm interested in knowing. Qactuar Distinguished Member. I've pointed out how they differ in the past and there's a huge FAQ here.
Yes, adding a link would've been a bit too much effort, eh? In a word yes. So would keying the differences between Comtrend's adapters and HomePlugs for the umpteenth time. There are two competing chipsets used in the technology. HomePlug uses Intellon based products, whilst other manufactures use a DS2 chipset and a are incompatible. Well that was really worth it You should have yourself a text file with a canned reply then same for your InSSIDer replies too, maybe?
However there are differences in operation as well. I think that HomePlugs are easier to setup and troubleshoot. Solid reliable connection.
As with other similar devices, doesn't get near its headline transfer rate, but still orders of magnitude faster than wi-fi. No interference problems. The passthrough plug socket is useful, but it does mean the ethernet port is set at the top of the device, which makes cabling uglier. Loses a point for ease of use because I had to download the instruction manual not supplied. So fast too. Makes Broadband really fast instead of relying on wireless. Buying 2nd pair now. Brilliant product!
Want a reliable connection for stream HD video and gaming? Then get these over a wireless adapter any day! Fast and high quality! Two's company, three's a problem These are fine if you just have two of them as they autoconfigure, but adding more than this is a problem. I found some instructions involving pressing the buttons on the front panel, but these were useless. Its best to plug the new unit directly into a hub, point browsers at both it and an already working unit, and cut and paste the network ID.
You can then disconnect from hub and deploy elsewhere in the home. Brilliant and so simple. I bought a pair of these to use in my new build large 3 storey house. The distance was just too far for wireless and it kept dropping out. I plugged the one in for the router to connect too with the supplied cable. The other one plugs in on the top floor and I had to provide a ethernet cable for that one but it just worked after a few seconds to auto set up.
